Sierra Norte occupies all the North Western part of the province of Guadalajara. The most occidental
area, enclaved in the Central system, is also the most accidented and the highest, with hill tops as
high as 2,000 meters. The most occidental area shows a smoother profile, alterning hills and plains of
lower elevation, with flat bleaks with a medium altitude of 1,200 meters. A large network of rivers and
creeks are born in this region as are the Jarama and the Henares rivers. In the North is enclaved the
National Parc of Hayedo de Tejera Negra, one of the most meridional beech forest in the world. In
addition, this is the region of the famous Black and Rural Roman Arquitecture. The cities of interest
in this region are Sigüenza, Atienza, Cogolludo, Tamajón, Valverde de los Arroyos, Majaelrayo,
Cantalajos and galve de Sorbe. |
